FL20 OR lx7?
« on: Mar 04, 2013, 10:08 PM »
Okay guys want some feed back to see which way to go. I have a FL 20 super pack which is a very nice unit but I'm thinking next year of going to the LX 7.  What are some of the pros and cons that you guys have gone through?
 Thanks for the input!
  Matt

7 hands down, more adjustments to fine tune, movable zoom, full use of the flasher dial even when in zoom, quiet, easier on the eyes than a regular flasher, bigger screen, dual beam, case comes with it, can upgrade it to the 9 if wanted, use it on the boat as a graph, little or nothing to adjust just drop the ducer in and it sets itself, adjustable backlight to match the fishing situation, best interference rejection in the industry, upgradable via the internet to be current as the newest models.... Cons over a traditional flasher, a little bulkier, wont fit in a bucket....

I ran a fl-20 for a yr the lx7 is hads down better for all the reasons already listed. I don't find it any heavier then the 20. all battery weight is what you notice. I don't haul my electronics in a bucket so that doesn't matter to me. Having 1/2" target separation is awesome and the ability to adjust the display to what you want is really nice, has a 6 color display that shows alot of detail. I wouldn't be able to go back to a fl-20 after using a lx5 let alone a lx7. The options to customize your screen are great.

Agree..The reason I switched from a vex to the 7, other than it was 50% off, is the fact that with every software update you get a "new" flasher. ;D

Matt,

Buy what you want.  I am not going to try to sway your choice one way or the other.
I have the LX-7.  Works for me for perch, walleye and lake trout.
I think the zoom and the flasher working side by side is great.
Stay safe  ....    Tom

No comparison between the two. Like comparing a nitro to a canoe.

Being a Vex FL-18 owner myself, I would probably go with the Marcum. For my type of fishing though, just knowing a fish is in the area is all I need to know. In shallow water, with good
visibility, I'll just sight fish. In deeper water I just go by feel. Regardless of all the bells and whistles, just knowing what depth a fish is, in relation to your lure is all you need to ice some fish.

I have the LX-7! I love it, and have been spending more time with it than my girlfriend!
