I want to preserve left over minnows for casting and jigging. What can I preserve minnows with that is still pallettable to fish? I was thinking maybe canning salt.

Dont get cheap now! nothing beats a fresh minnie... but if you must i would put in tupperware,fill with water and freeze... thaw and enjoy.

Cheap is right. I bought 3 dozon perch minnies Satrurday, used half a minnow for smelt. Hate to waste them. Im think,n a little like gulp baits.

hey try it out, maybe put them in kosher salt til your ready to use. let me know how it works whatever you use!

My concern is that they will turn to mush. Guess I,ll have to get out my mad scientist kit.

I've seen quite a few walleye ice fishing shows that use salted minnows. I'm guessing because live bait might be illegal on the bodies of water they were fishing but they did very well. Here is a good step by step guide to salt minnows.

Tried some salted shiners today for pike. They were a hit. Lowered my first line in the water and before I got down to my fishing depth, I had my first pike on.
