Afternoon on the ice with my boys
« on: Feb 25, 2013, 08:43 AM »
After have a bug run through the house Friday-Sat, my boys, the woman, and I needed to get out of the house.  I took them to a local lake to do some jigging.

My youngest enjoys his lunch.

My oldest shows off his first crappie of the day.

My middle son is working the flasher.

Ends up with something to show for it.

We ended up catching close to 30 perch, crappie, and sunnies.  Released everything and had a pretty great afternoon.

Nice!  Way to get the kids out!  I believe I have the same shelter you do and I went out and bought that green outdoor carpeting and roll it up and put in bag with shelter.  I find that the floor stays dry instead of getting slushy with the heater in the shack.  Just thought I'd share.  It's cheap and works great.

You guys getting the kids out there make me jealous!  ;)

You're lucky to have icefishing be a family sport. Good for you! Tell the kids some random stranger said "Good job!"....well, maybe you could put it differently. They aren't supposed to talk to random strangers. ;D

Looks like a great time.

The kids and I have not been able to get out for 3 weeks and we are dying to get out this weekend.

I bought a green outdoor carpet for mine as well and it works great.  I put grommets in where the grommets are in the tent so the anchors will hold it in place.  It cuts down on the wetness and slipping and sliding.
