You going out tomorrow?
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work

30 years ago, I'd have been out in this wind. But you get smarter (softer?) as you get older . I'm sitting at my nice warm workbench trying to get yesterday's skunk smell off my gear...

Fished pontoosuc and was sitting in my FJ all morning with heat and tunes. To say it was blustery would be an understatement. Fishing sucked though but I was hanging huge pondies and the weeds seem to have disappeared there :'(.  A guy next to me was hanging small bait and only had one flag all morning.

I got on to the ice around 6am on Sunday. The wind was pretty rough - blowing straight south down the lake all morning. Saw one other group at the north end (I was down at the south end) and watched as a big ol' plastic bag come whipping down the ice like a manufactured tumbleweed. Had to build wind dams out of snow and ice to stop the wind flags for a couple of my homemade traps that are a little sensitive (my IH traps worked like a charm tho)b.

Managed to ice 2 bass that seemed eager to get back into the water after our photo op. :P

I build those walls of snow to help keep the holes clean of wind blown snow. Kind of like how a bug reflector works. Sends the snow up and over the holes. Tomorrow light winds and storm in the afternoon, can't wait!

Good luck out there!

I also broke my ice scoop (my wife's old ladle) Sunday. Scooped some ice out of the hole and tried to knock it off on the ice... only to have half of it shatter. I guess those things are made for hot liquids. ::) Going aluminum for next week. @)

Not sure what you guys had for winds down here but we were camping near Glen NH with the wind. OMG!!  Mt Washington had 136mph and we were just south of there.

It was howling up North were a group of us were whaling on the fish... It was cool to watch a immature bold eagle working its way around the lake with that wind!

I have to get some short heavy duty jigging rods so I can fish them with the clam closed!

i wish i had a clam that day up north. nice job on the smallies alan. now i gotta stock up on the chubby darters thanks to you. how long did you guys stay? when we first arrived i stupidly tried to open an old hole with my boot and the whole thin ice covering on top of the ice gave way and dropped down in the water about 12 inches. i though i was going thru so i instintively dropped back and rolled out before i could even get wet. that saved the day cuz wet boots would have suxed. gave alan and half hooked a drop and roll show just as they were heading out.

Stockbridge Bowl was a brutal place on sunday. Good company with Jamie Buck. Had some incredibly well dressed (style not warmth) people come out to our camp looking to buy perch from us. They saw our sad looking pile of 3 at the time and became uninterested.

Use tomato Juice... I spent 7 hours in 470mph winds, snow at 19 inches per minute, and Porter, huddled over his jiggin hole promising warmth to anything he could coax out of the hole. I did this all for the  reward of the dreaded SKUNK!  I used Tomato Juice!

That's weird, my Flaggs dropped off just after lunch too. I held out for the 3:00 blitz lol.
