I have been stuck on Mora's for more than 50 years. The name tells it all. No better steel made.  Inexpensive quality knife. Loose to many knifes to buy expensive ones that are no better than a Mora in the first place.

I have a feeling I will be stuck on them for 50 years too.  ;D

I carry a hen & rooster handmade stag gentlemans knife all the time and an old puma hunters pal for hunting. Soligen steel is still the best imo , you can split hairs with them.

I can't believe I'm the first one on here to rep kershaw, just stay away from the crap that's at Walmart.  Walmart carries a kershaw line that's made overseas out of crap steel that costs about a third the price if a true USA made kershaw.  I have a few if their speed safe knives, one handed spring assist open, just a slight push with the thumb and the blade whips open FAST.  Good steel, good locks, blade never gets jiggly in handle, and 10/10 on cool scale. If you're gonna drop a hundo on a folder, the bluer series are great.  After using kershaw, I won't use another folder.  As far as fixed blade, SOG seal pup elite is a bad ass little fixie.

I love knives !! I have quite the collection of them. But the one that I carry the most is a Kershaw Shallot. And in fact I work in a steel mill...and I am known as "the guy that gets stuff". One thing that everyone in the mill needs is a good knife. We tried dozens of different knifes over the years,,including different Buck knives...SOG knifes...etc. I was in a local gun store one day and saw one of these Shallots and bought it on my own to give it a try. I used it for about 6 months and it worked great for what we use a knife for. Since then..I have ordered over a hundred of them for guys in the mill...and everyone Loves their Kershaw. It is a true one-handed knife..it holds its edge..and when it does need resharpened..it is quick and easy to touch it up. And, out of all of them, there have only been 2 that have had "issues"...their springs that open the blade got a little weak...and just a quick phone call had a new one in my hands within a week. I have a bunch of other "pocket" knives...Benchmades, SOGs, Spiderco,Case, a couple other Kershaws, etc.....but the Shallot is my "go to" work knife.

Another Spyderco fan here.  Always a Delica clipped in the pocket.

Handy especially when ice fishing, I can get to it through the side zipper of my overalls.  Opens easily even with a glove on, the beauty of that opening hole.

My vote is also for Kershaw.  I just got the Speedsafe in silver, and a cute little speedsafe in rainbow color for the wife.  It opens like a rocket, sharp as all hell, with a magnificent point for stabbing boxes.  It is my third Kershaw!  Oh, and they have a really great belt clip that keeps it in place- well thought out design.

For longer trips outdoors, I like the Griptilian or a big Boker knife I got at a pawnshop for $20.  As a chef, my knives are always shavin' sharp, I have collected kitchen knives for decades, but really don't know why,  I use the Wusthof Culinaire models all day at work, and a vintage carbon steel knife at home that can be razor sharpened in seconds ona good steel.
Fishin' is better with a Malty Beverage!

When not in school, (I'd get fired), I always carry a
yellow Case Peanut for just doing "stuff".  Fillet knives
are an old Western stainless with a rose wood handle
that takes a great edge, traditional Rapala birch handle,
and a walnut/stainless folder made be Chicago Cutlery in
the 80's.

AMEN to those who champion Moras.  Splitting duties by the
woodburner are handled by a mora heavy duty. Go to in the camper is
a red, 30 yr old Erickssen carbon Mora. And, my deer knife is a blue
stainless Mora.  I've got less than $40 tied up in the 3 of them. (I did
manage to ding the blade on one a few months ago.  I was driving it
through a 3" piece of hard maple and found a broken off stainless screw
from who knows where........)  As others have said, unbelievable quality
for a very reasonable price.

Can't go wrong with a Spyderco for general all-purpose use.
As far as a fillet knife, I got an awesome one-of-a-kind custom made Damascus filet knife/sheath built by friend & shanty member Jim Rodebaugh!

Right now I'm totally diggin budget Kershaw and Spyderco knives. I'm currently rotating the Kershaw Chill, Oso sweet, and scamp. All good knives at a good price. I also have the Spyderco Tenacious in the mix and I love that as well. They all have the 8cr13MOV as the blade steel which is a good budget steel. I'm planning on getting the Spyderco persistance sometime soon. You can never have to many knives!! Of all of them I think the Tenacious takes the cake for the one I like the most but the others have their place in the rotation and they're all fun to use!

What sold me on Mora's was when i was cleaning some frogs one time. My buddy handed me the Mora that some one had brought him back from Sweden. One of the frogs was still kicking so I was going to knock i in the head with the back side of the blade. OOOPS I tapped it with the sharp side of the blade and its head flew off.
I decided right then and there I had to have a Mora but it took me years to find one stateside. Only paid $3.00 for a knife that has cleaned a ton of game. They are not that expensive today concidering inflation. $15.00 will get you a great knife.

This is the knife I carried to school everyday. Don't need to tell you how long ago that was!
I used an electric engraver to draw my dirt bike on both sides.

I collect just about every knife available, and buy and sell them all, my favorite fillet knife is a Ka-bar 1383 ,can bend this knife in half ,super sharp and easy to keep that way,Rapala ,Mora ,great fish knives, but some of the sharpest knives hands down for hunting or all around is a Marttinni, these are RAZORS,my everyday carry varies from Puma Badger to Kershaw Chive to my favorite CRKT Gallagher Rave w/ Micarta handles, and all else fails a Buck 110 or 112  is hard to beat ,reliable solid, and a couple of the most copied knives in history .There, Im Done, IMO....Enjoy,and watch your fingers.

I had taken a survival course back in the early 90's, and the knife of choice was a $10 Mora.  That knife was used to cut trees, dissect animals, chop/cut/sever/ and slice my way to success.

I still have that knife, and use it at camp every year.  Not bad for a $10 investment.

Ragnar is a pleasure to work with. I have no interest in his business nor have I ever met him, but I am a fan. The website sure looks like it was set up in 1998, but he watches it closely. I'm pretty sure his order confirmations are hand done, not automated too.
