Rattles and/or glow lures definitely help things. Have a second rod rigged nearby with a dead sticked shiner. Electronics will GREATLY increase your success rate, especially in deep water... Or just kick back with tip ups and wait.

Anyone have good luck with green lights in holes, and fishing around them ? That's something I'd like to try pending we can ice fish again, this year  ::)

I have a bunch of the "Crappie Candles" in white and green. Very little luck with them myself but know someone who uses a swordfish cyalume and swears by it. He says they stay 10-15 feet from it, don't try to fish right on the light.

That's definitely the key... Clear water, you may need top stay even further away.

Yes Sir. Now that I have finally got electronics, It feels like I am wasting my time if I try to jig without them.
