three days of wind rain and temps in the 60s early this week killed the ice everywhere.

bay is locked up again.  hopefully it stays cold and we can fish next weekend.
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day.  But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

Surely safe ice should be getting close at Misery Bay and Presque Isle

Last word yesterday from my cousin's baitshop was nobody visible on the ice, no reliable reports of safe ice, and two customers having just left with bait and prayers for solid ice on Misery.  I hope those guys found it, but I doubt it.  We drove to Lake Arthur instead.

I would wait a few more days to be halfway decent anyways. everything just locked back up yesterday.  Horseshoe had ice when everything else had open water, but it didn't look very good.  Still a lot of wet spots on the bay, and misery had open water down the center and a large crack running out from under the bridge friday.

icefshrman31,

Who is your friend at FishUSA???  I'm one of the customer service guys there.  I'm sure I know him.  First name is fine.

Lake Arthur is the reservoir at Moraine State Park.
