My understanding is you can use perch for bait but those perch count towards your daily limit.

A couple of years ago I jigged up an 8" perch in Saratoga Lake. Before I could get him out of the water, a pike attacked. He actually killed the perch. But, I missed him as he missed the hook in the perches mouth. True story!

I have used perch rib cages laid on the bottom on a tip up for Lake Trout before. Works real well.

I find that if I use perch or bigger fish on tip-ups, they tend to trip the flags.  What do you guys do to remedy this?  I use frabil thermals.
