Humminbird ICE55 - Battery ?
« on: Jan 03, 2013, 10:17 AM »
Should I purchase a spare, or can one battery get me through a day of fishing. Sometimes I'm a sun up to sun down kinda fisherman, but in the mean time I'm running tip-ups too, so I'm not jigging all day. Just not sure what to expect out of the unit.

I think with even my 3 year old battery i just got about 20 hours of use from a charge when i was up on lake of the woods
The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't

Your ice 55 draws 250mah. So lets do some math!

7ah battery, at full capacity will give you 28 hours of battery life. So say 25 hours of good runtime.
9ah battery, at full capacity will give you 36 hours of battery life. So say 30-35 hours of runtime.

i always carry a spare.. i can't count how many times i've used it , ...either  people forgeting to charge there units,or people with bad batteries...it's nice to have a spare to give to a friend ,or to use yourself...
i don't like to give up my lx-5..unless i have to.( i always have my lx-7 with me as well, fishing one unit in each hole)

I haven't even used it yet. Battery is fully charged. I just didn't want to have to worry about it. I like to travel to find good ice fishing spots, so I was just curious. From the sounds of it a charge would get me through a weekend! Thanks guys!

I have not had as much luck with battery life in my H55.  I run a 9amp battery and I am not getting 30 hours.  But the only time I worry about this is trips to lake of the woods.  I bring a back up for sure.  I have found my HB sucks a lot more battery than my vex did, I understand it is drawing down more power but it I am losing battery faster than the math says I should.

It can only draw 250mah... somehow your battery is not holding the rated 9000mah of juice. Mislabeled chinese battery, bad battery, or bad charger.

I have used more than one battery and have the same issue so not sure what the deal is.  I still get a good amount of time 20 hours or so but not getting 30 that is for sure.  The powerhead indicator reads 100% when I am done charging, so unless my battery gauge is off I think the charger is working fine.  Who knows I guess.
