Thanks for that comment, it helps a lot. So I guess everyone else we talked to that weren't catching is in the same boat.

I've spent quite a bit of time on brushy.  I think the key is moving, moving, moving!!  find which trees they are in.. spend 5 minutes in each hole.. if you dont catch something move another 10 yards to a different group of trees.  might take take 20 holes but you'll find em.  the other year i was 5-10 yards away from 6 in our group who weren't catching anything and easily caught my limit in 20 minutes... in this lake it seems the fish are lazy,  ???  don't let them find you.. find them.  ;)

We had good fishing last Saturday...perch and gils. Going to hit it again this weekend. We fished away from the mob at the north end, and saw only four people all day.

open water on the southeast side. they were driving on the north end thurs. afternoon. but only a couple out there and no one on the south end. they probably didn't want to deal with the wind. be careful if you wander around in the dark.

We had 14" Saturday north of the beach. Weather app showed very little snow up there with this last snow. Any snow on the ice, or is it still glare ice?

I think there is probably a light covering of maybe an inch, unless the wind blew it off. Thinking of fishing the area north of beach, I sent you a PM

We had bad fishing Saturday. 14-15", mainly glare ice with a little skiff of snow here and there. Caught a few decent perch. We were three hundred yds north of the west boat ramp. Couldn't get into any eyes.

Got a buddy fishing a new spot today, and he's into 10-11" crappie. He was in crappie city for a while, he said they have slowed down, and he's on the move again.

If coming from Des Moines, where is a good spot to park and unload the gear? Never fished it, and just looking to get onto some safe ice to fish. Thinking about hitting it up this Saturday. What's the most popular boat ramp to use? Any helpful advice on that subject would be great. If you want, you can just send a PM. Thank you.

The ice is that thick up there to park on the ice? Hot damn! Good to know! You heading up there on Saturday ASATmiller? I think you and I have met before, a couple years ago on Roberts Creek. My buddy and I were in his Eskimo Pop up, the same one you have now, and you were showing us the idea of the paint pan on the heater. If that wasn't you, then I apologize, but thought for sure, after seeing that picture of the pan on the heater, that's you.

I'm going back Tuesday.  Did ok last Thursday and a kind gentleman made a good day better when he gave us some more fish to take home. Had one limit between two of us and after his gift ended up just shy of maxed out for both of us. Might start out where we left off sw of north ramp and keep working south. If anybody has any better advice I'm all ears.

I was on a bus and just happened to be sitting on a news paper. This guy came up and asked. "Are you reading that ?"
I said  yes, stood up, turned the page and sat back down.

My frist try on brushy didn't go so well. Fished down round the island. Lots of water on the ice. Looked like transducer was going down the toilet with all the water running back into the hole. 2 11in crappies was all I caught. They were in 30 fow,1 on waxie,1 on jiggin rap. Still lots of ice, 12 to 14 in. Wish I had more info. Brushy 1, rusty 0 .

Kid if you wanna meet up with us will be up there Tuesday morning. By the way does anyone know of a place close by to get minnows? Or would I just be better off getting them here in des moines beforehand.

Duncombe gas and grocery bait shop is 3 or so miles straight north of the north boat ramp on north side of 20. Open at 6 am if there hrs are the same. They have a website. Get a bait card from them for free.
