Why fishing frenchmans? Never fished the hardwater season so i dont want to sound ignorant. But summer fishing never really pays off there IMO. Why wouldnt you take a trip to gog or beaverton.

I live around the corner from Frenchmans Bay and fish it a couple of times a week ( ice only). Pike , perch is what I usually catch but I have iced carp ,rainbow trout , white bass, and sheepshead as well. I do not eat them but my neighbors sure do. Going to try this week.

Happy New Year to All ;D

First report of the season...been lurking for awhile. I too am a Frenchmans regular. I try to get out at least once a week from here on in.

I walked out about 50 meters from the park on Sunday and found a few drilled holes. I have to assume it was you "BryanG"? I spuded around and checked your holes and guessed about 3-4 inches. I was coming from work and did not have proper attire for exploration. It's a better start than last year.

I plan on going out Friday (my usual day) and would love a walking partner. Anyone interested? Hopefully these -10 nights will tighten it up a little.

Sitter fell through for friday. Next week the kids will be in school. Gonna have to wait till then to get out on Frenchmans.

Saturday if all goes well will be hitting Scugog with a couple buds to try some evening action.

Any updates on ice depth on Frenchmans?

Was on the ice from 10 am till  4 pm today

2 idiots from the east shore decided to tae an 8 wheel argo onto the ice,  the machnie fell through though its amphibious   someoen called 911 i guess

All was well after 2 hours the guys freed themselves without the 10 firetrucks 2 ambulances and 6 police units.

   So frenchmans bay??

Yes way too many people on the ice today,  i counted  from start to finish over 130 people on the ice, fishing....
the Bay will not be ableto handle this pressure all winter along.

a 4 lb walleye caught today, and some of the  largest  perch anyone on the ice has seen,  people have come from ottawa,  and lake simcoe to try their luck at what this bay  can offer.

Me with a small pike,  my first of the 2013 year.

and a very gorgeous rainbow caught by Ryan last thursday.

Minnows can  be bought at the local family tackle shop,  Tightline fisherman's warehouse  at bayly and brock rd in pickering..

Good luck out there..  Be Safe...

and make sure to check out the frenchmans bay tournament, feb 16th.  1st place could take 1 thousand dollars.

Looks like the Bay survived the heatwave. Most of theBay still has ice but no idea how thick it is.
Hopefully she will tighten up before the winds come.

Shocked!
I went by today and almost all ice is gone. It survived the heat and rain and now with these cold temps it is almost wide open.
So much for going Friday. Maybe next Friday?

I was down to Frenchmans bay on Sat. -yesterday, and  there were a couple of dozen folks fishing. The bay is about 3/4 frozen, but  still open on the east side. You can get out a couple of hundred yards on the west .

I Just returned from visiting the bay just to check on the conditions.

Needless to say I wouldnt be going out there myself,

I did not see anyone on the ice.

I would suggest that people stay off the ice on the bay for now, As I Feel The ice is not Safe.

Things might change over the next few days  into the weekend,  but this wind might also do a number on the bay also...

Keep thinking  , "ARCTIC WINDS FROM THE NORTH"
