Heard this lake has big smallies and big pike, is it worth making the trip in winter, is the parking and getting on access good?

Access is hard wicked steep bank,it does have both of what you ask ,but it is over rated and over fished as most small lakes are here on VT.Fish it then decide for yourself.

i think its funny when guys deter people from lakes so they can have it all to there selves , if it was over fished the state woud restrict fishing there its just your opinion , let them try it themselves and try being nice to everyone and enjoy the company on the lake and have fun trying to get the big one with others  :)

The state of Vt will not restrict anything , it was a joke , if you want to fish it fish, i could careless, it is hard to access and over fish plain and simple, and slow at best.the only thing our state has done is limit pan fish and screw up the bait laws.

I didn't take it personal or get discouraged all is good, think I'm just gonna wait and take the boat to emerald instead.

Pretty sure that only goes for boats.  Augers don't count.

Colchester pond has the same rule. A few years back we stood and talked with the Warden for a good 15 minuets with 2 power augers lying there, no problems.

emerald lake is full of logs on the shores.  that's where the big ones are. stay close and don't let the fish get into the logs too much
