So today we went to our favorite lake to try and find some of the big rainbows we have caught in the past. The weather and the ice was still in "early season" condition. not too thick, about 5inches of good stuff and a bunch of slushy junk on top of that. regardless. we were all excited knowing what might be when our lines went through the ice.
the fishing was busy all day except for an hour or so around lunch time. between the four of us 17 fish were caught. the day started with a few "keepers for dinner in the 14-15inch range
once a few fish were caught the tension was off and it was all smiles after that. we fished deep water. starting around 13-15 feet then moved out to where the "lunkers" hide deeeep. 25 feet or so of water beneath us the battle was on. and so were the smiles
this lil guy , caught by the gill?
we got into some good ones between 17-19 inches to close out our day with this one being the biggest, about 18.5inch and 2.75lbs
a beautiful day at our favorite lake with some fishies for dinner and some bigiones back down the hole to grow for next year.
