Holy crap... -4 in Greenville this morning!, love the sound your tires make on the snow when it's that cold.  Hopefully my first ice lake had close to 4" of ice prior to yesterdays prolly 10" of snow that we got.  Fingers crossed for this weekend.

This upcoming week they say it will hit 40! Because it is so early yet do you guys think it will be better in the final result? Getting rid of all the snow then refreezing? Or loosing everything we have gained?

Won't come close to getting rid of all the snow... Will surely whomp our the shore ice though and make for sketchy conditions

I'm wanting warmer daytime temps.it will melt some snow so some ice can be made..night time temps will still make ice.theres not enough ice  around here to wreck.

I don't know where you are, but for Lansing area it looks like starting Sunday we'll get two or three days where the temp doesn't get below freezing but doesn't get above 40. They're not calling for rain. I think this will be okay. It won't get rid of all the snow, but it will reduce it and when we get back into cold temps it will refreeze into good ice. It will not take out much of the ice we have gained so far. Remember, snow is an insulator. It slows ice creation when we get cold temps, but it also protects ice if it gets warm.

Out further will be ok but any shore ice will get smoked by runoff.... But you are right it should be better in the long run

Two days is not going to do any thing to ice.. with the shorter days and longer nights..  think of it as nature's zamboni and it will be better later on..  melts some of the snow off the ice if any thing so it freezes better..

36 here in A2,  was out yesterday fished in 3 fow, 50 yds out was as far as I dare venture. However 2 inches of clear ice and 2 inches snow pack ice. 3 Solid spud whacks. Now a little farther out, whacks were one and through.
I have a BS in Narrative Fishing History.

Good to hear you got the rest of your "chores" done Dr. Speckler. I'm down state in Lake Orion for the weekend.... looks like more snow hitting the weekend. The little body of water my folks live on still is locked with ice after the warm snap. The positive is all the snow is clear of the ice. We shall see how it goes.
