It was cold as hell fishing today, some warmer temps might be kind of nice. We should get another arctic blast before the years out one would think, but who knows

Interesting. I checked the satellite view this morning and Saginaw Bay appeared completely frozen over again. These high winds and warm temps will make short work of that new ice, I think.

58°.. Pulled my shanty this morning. Shore ice is getting soft already. Big windy.. Temps this week will probably blow this ice up in a hurry.. I caught 11 last night. Might be it for a while..

63 and high gusts up to 45 mph. Just got done cleaning some branches. Checked out a local spot near the house that I fished last nigth and open spots which have springs/currents are getting bigger and away from shore. Suppose to cool down starting Sunday night, but doubtful it will be accessible for the rest of the season. Other lakes away from the lakeshore near GR will be fine.

was on a lake today and the wind was pulling my shanty/sled like a dog pulls it's owners with it folded lol! good thing i had ice racing screws in my boots. a buddy didn't have any thing for slipping and the wind was blowing him and his sled/flip shanty and i had to stop him like a tree. good thing i was there to help him.
there's over an inch on the lake and when i drilled holes water was rushing down them and the sonar was picking up the surface debris flushing down the holes and clogging the holes with dirt. the ice was hard tho and not springy at all, for now and same for the shore. the ramp end had 7" and the other end has 4 3/4". the fish were in their usual spots.
would have been fun on skates to see how fast you could go.

more of the same tomorrow, but not as bad.

was making ice last night while fishing in the dark even tho the temps were 39. the transducer wouldn't get thru the holes that were open while it was light out.
going today will be fine on the lakes you know were good yesterday. the bite is so bad tho, i wouldn't drive too far to see how they are today.
we had 7 inches in sw branch county yesterday on a lake that's supposed to have a tournament on right now, so i won't mention lake names and ruin their tournament.

41 here now, I see they changed the Wed. forecast from 5-8" snow to 1.19" rain now, either way in my neck of the woods we are probably doomed!!

36 here, and that horrible wind has stopped. I know I spend too much time looking at the 10-day forecast, but it just changed for the better. After only a little snow on Wed, starting Thursday I see 6 nights in a row of lows below 20, and 3 of those in single digits! Could we really be lucky enough to get some sort of mild Arctic Blast? I think that could heal whatever damaged ice we've got left.

news said the more significant snow will be to the east of the state.
if we get it, it may push the snow plate under and freeze the new snow i hope, if we have to have it.
says rain to snow and 2" wed and 4" wed night.
also the winds will be gusting to 38 mph day time and so it should be in the night too. so that should help. it's a north east wind too. that will shove the unwanted snow to the other end of the lakes where i fish.
