I'm thinking a set of skis on those front tires and nothing is going to stop you! Nice ride!

That's definitely better than the lawn tractor would have been!

I like it, but how do the rear wheels keep the track on?

well I made some track guides outta some aluminum angle...it keeps the track centered and will not allow it to walk from side to side.. I was making trax for my argo is how this all came about..but the quad is way lighter than the argo..plus needed a lot less work!

You have more money than me, my ice fishing ride are my legs.  Don't have to worry about mechanical failure.

I do like! I have plans to come up with a riding lawnmower complete with fabricated skis for the front and steel wheels with spikes- like the old tractor wheels, in back. Just need to put plans together and follow through with it!

I have an older sled but riding mowers have plenty of torque to yank around a permanent shanty- something you don't want to do with a centrifugal clutchdriven snowmobile. Plus you can pull the trailer you towed the mower out with to the lake full of beer, gear etc.!  I used to run an old wheel horse with tire chains like in the video. It worked well from bare ice to 5 or 6 in. Of snow but anything more and the turning radius would drop quite a bit. I need to get to the garage and start building!!!! :o

I've researched these!!! What a cool concept and to think it was invented over 80 years ago! I would think that it never gained much popularity because the cost totally outweighed the need for the average farmer.  That tractor just floats over the snow!!

Well Chrysler tried it again in the 60s.  Maybe it's time for the concept to come back again.
