Hey guys just ran across this site and got registered, cant wait to share info and read posts. I live in Eau Claire and like to fish Wissota, Lake Eau Claire Miss backwaters and cheq bay in Ashland. Like to get out 3-4 times a week. Cant wait for the hardwater!

Welcome to the Shanty the best ice fishing site on the web. Live near wissota, but don't fish it much, fish alot of the lakes to the north. Where on the river do you fish, Fountain City, Alma? Used to live down that way, and fished the river all the time.

addicted to fishing, what lakes up north do you fish? If you wouldnt mind sharing. I go down to the backwaters by wabasha. In the process of building my first permanent shack it will be on Little Wissota. I do alright out their mostly chasing crappies let me know if you ever want to head out thanks!

I fish many different lakes. Fireside, Potato, Marshmiller McCann, Upper Long, Big Chetac to name a few. Also fish many lesser known lakes trying to find hidden gems. Found a few possibles last year, I need to do more exploring. Quite honestly it seems like every time I fish Wissota, it kicks my butt. When I do fish it, I go either to the little lake, or moon bay.

It would be fun to head out some time. Do you have any days off during the week?

Awesome ive fished all of them lakes. Yeah ive been working on Wissota the past few years and really have started to get some decent sized crappies nothing crazy numbers wise but some solid sized ones, couple solid 14inchers last year and a few really nice wallys good luck this year

Whiskey and Addicted, if you guys would like to gether some time let me know, I like to get out as much as possible. I have an old Arctic Cat to get out when and where you don't want to drive on. Tip Downs for the Crappies and Eyes is a lot of fun. I fish many of the same lakes, maybe we can game plan and get into some good fishing. I know of a few nice little hidden gems in the area and up north.

Sounds like a plan, hope we can work out a time that works. I will probably be the hold up, as I work strange hours, and every other weekend. I have days off during the week if that is a possibility. Hopefully the weather changes for the better, and ice starts to form soon.

I'm off every other Friday and plan to take as much vacation as I can. Taking road trips together and chipping in for gas can make it a lot easier to take those trips up north versus going it alone.

I'm also looking at making a trip back out to South Dakota this year to get some of those monster Perch and Eyes.

I also fish Wissota every once in a while not to often maybe twice a year. Usually I go to smaller lakes with less pressure on them around Chippewa.

Whisky, addict, and crappieguy, I also am from Eau Claire, do a lot of fishing near New Auburn on Fireside and Long lake, also fish Altoona and Menomin quit a bit, woud like to learn Wissota a little better just got a permanent shack to put out this year so would be great to get together and catch some nice slabs in the eau claire area, or travel up Nort". I will send everyone a PM when we start getting some freezing nights hopefully soon!

Harders, Welcome to the site ive certinally enjoyed my time here so far, I also just got a permanent shack its a small pull behind camper. Im just about done with getting it ice ready. It will be on Little Wissota this year. But I do like to travel around as much as possible, we will definatley have to go chase some slabs

Sounds like a plan guys, maybe we can even split up in a couple of groups and fish several different lakes in the same area, if someone gets on a good bite we could easily move to the hotter lake. Looking forward to hard water time, need to do some bow hunting now. My friend just shot a 10 point 170's, dressed at 230lbs, that got me pumped. He shot it less than a mile from my hunting area.

I've got pics of two bucks that are over 160" and you know how many times I've made it out with the bow this year? None maybe this weekend I can get out. Those bucks are starting to get a little antsy.

Good idea on the divide and conquer. By pooling resources, and knowledge, it could help all of us try new areas, and become better fishermen.

Your friend got an awesome deer Congrats. Good luck to you on the bow hunting. I have to start this week too if I am gonna get out.
