Been going over the gear already.
« on: Oct 11, 2012, 08:42 PM »
Just replaced the old Ski's on my Smitty Sled with some wider shorter ski's. Added a 3/4" layer on the back of it so my Sled with Wheels fits on without touching the ground.

I'll take some today and post them here.  Still need to drill holes in the ski's for the rope.

I also took out the Auger and put it in the sled so I can see how well my new Shappell Wide House 5500 will fit on there.

My tip-ups all got 4 new coats of polyurathane, auger bit chipped paint touched up, and waxed the auger bit.  I'm ready to go.

Here it is minus the Shappell which will sit on top of the auger blades.

Nice setup with the wheels on the sled.  I'll have to look at doing something like that for the drag across the roads and parking lots.  New shelter should be nice - I like that it's 600D and only weighs 23lbs.

I just posted this on the general Forum but Here is my new setup.

You know I went out and was moving my sled loaded around the yard and found it was hard to move with those wheels the way they are.

I took them off and used this thing which weights 24 pounds and it moves around real easy.

I already had the dolly and when I use the ski's I can flip the dolly upside down on top the buckets where it fit's good.

Last year I had a Quick Flip 2 and all my gear. It was way too heavy. I just weighted every thing I have and it comes out to be 129 Pounds including the Dolly.
The QF II weighted 87 on it's own. Which would have been 76 more pounds then what I have now.

A couple of extra straps I can handle to keep every thing in place.

Definitely a great thought. Are you taking the attached wheels off now since the dolly idea? Wonder how it will do in slush? Hopefully we won't get to find out.

Been getting things together. Charged the Vex again. Ready for the big green lines on it!

Thanks for posting up the pics.

Wheels are gone and I now bought  new light weight Dolly to pull it with. 10 LBS. Farmers Almanac says we should have a wetter Fall and Next Spring with less snow this Winter. It also says we should have normal cold. I hate to see less snow for the mountains but I also like that when it comes to Ice fishing.

Nice pictures Lefty. I've been putting new line on my lightweight poles and redoing the flourocarbon leaders on the heavier poles.
