Will boysen be better this year?
« on: Oct 08, 2012, 11:20 PM »
Don't get me wrong i caught some fish but i'm a perch fan alot of the time and i miss those limit out days.  I don't think the numbers will be back for at least two years.  If i'm right i think the perch in boysen exactly follow the cottontail population around here.  Numbers are coming up but still got a ways to go.  I think it'll be 4 to 5 years til we're killing the jumbos again.  Other than that, i think we'll be out early this year and i'll go where the good fishin is.

Was just reading through some thoughts on last year or whatever that thread was called.  Sounds like boysen was better for others than it was for myself.  I am used to limiting out on perch in a few hours and picking up some walleye along with them.  Guess i was in the wrong spot.

Perch numbers are still down, too many big walleye in there right now. They will be a few years.

I think it depends on the number of forage fish that made it to eating size, the perch spawn and the shiner population.

The lake was swarming with forage this summer! On a hot day I would pick up an eye or two whenever a cloud would pass over on a bottom bouncer! It will probably be a few more years before the fish start having to compete for forage again. But on the bright side. Once the easily fished dinks are caught, everything after that ought to be a superb catch! TIGHT LINES :)
