2013 Iceshanty tournament - no bluegill?

The signup is now open for this seasons online tournament.  I am thoroughly greatfull that the tradition will be continued!  HOWEVER, after I signed up I noticed bluegill will not be included in the species list.  I sent a private message to TinyTim - the mod who has posted all the details for the tournament, asking BEGGING him to continue to include bluegill.  I cant be the only one who targets big bluegill in NE and Iowa, as they are the most prevalent species in the midwest. 

I am asking my Nebraska and Iowa buddies for support on this.  Voice your opinions here and send a supportive message to TinyTim that bluegill should be included.  I have not heard back yet whether this was an oversight or this was on purpose, but I would like to see this taken care of sooner than later.

Big bass and walleye are great, but bluegill are our bread and butter!

I noticed that too!    I hope they just forgot that! Even if other states might not have big gills we dont even have burbot that Ik of lol

I do alot of gilll fishing. Would like to them in the tourney for sure.

I received a pm from TinyTim and replied to a post he put up in the tournament section.  I was informed that the decision was intentional.  I am sure there's alot on his plate and I let him know that I now have no problem with this decision as this is the first year he is heading this up.  I still hope next year will include these abundant little fish, but I will not be pressing the issue any further.  This year I will be targeting bass, thats the only shot I have around hear for a picture worthy fish.

I agree with you that bluegills should be included.  They are a great fish and lots of fun to catch for both kids and adults.

I catch them often too, but I think for now we should just be greatful that at least we have a tournament for this year. And make it as easy as possible on the mods so they keep it going for years to come.

I read the rules but didn't see where the list of fish are that can be entered in the tournament.  Where is the list?  I'm glad we're having the tournament I was new to the site last year and didn't have a chance to join it since I joined after the cut off date.
