I've wanted to try perch lake for a couple of years now. Is it worth the trip?

Perch lake in NY?  If so it is a lot of fun. The pike are numerous so are the pickeral. Really good chances of catchin bullhead crappie.  As far as perch go ahhhhh not so good. For me anyway.  I did have a few decent 10 inch perch though. The highlight for me was definitely the 1.9 lb crappie. Good luck and tight lines.
Look at me I can walk on water

If you want perch, hit the bays of Lake Ontario - they are hard to beat in the wintertime for perch with great numbers of 10"+ slobs!  @) Or in the fall or spring for that matter!! ;D

Perch lake will be one of the first lakes around that area to have safe ice. If you go make sure you sign in and head straight out and stay away from the creek to the right. You'll see were everyone heads it's about 300-400 yards straight out from were you get on the ice. It's a good lake for the kids to run around and chase flags all day long. There are some big pike in there you just have to sort through the small ones. It also holds it secrets if your willing to put in your time and fish at night you can be very rewarded.
A good day fishing inst complete unless it's spent with family or friends.

REALLY?? Last fall and this past spring were the best EVER for us!! We often limited out on pound plus' within a couple hours on most trips!  We also caught many 15"+ slobs!! @) We're expecting this fall to be dynamite again - only another couple weeks and they should be heading in!! :P

that's open water try the ice, there are a few good lakes around that yield #+ perch through the ice that go 10- 14"

Nice catch!! Was that on Oneida? We've seen some monster perch come from there during the hardwater season! Haven't tried Oneida ourselves yet - we've done very well on Sodus (except last season when we hit Sodus once and were targeting pike).  @)

I personally think that the perch fishing is going to be dynamite not only on sodus, but all ontario bays this fall and winter. With the perch starting to eat them gobies, and the lack of fishing pressure last ice season, there should be many nice fish to take in the nexxt 6 months. Just my .02
It'll eat.

I never been able to get the big jacks on the ice, only 7-9"   Got into a nice school of 12" last summer in 1000 islands. Maybe this year we can find them. If not Ill have fun trying! ;D
