ATV licence Plate
« on: Sep 09, 2012, 10:33 AM »
Remember guys, now you need to display a licence plate on your ATV if you are going to ride on the ice. Yes you do. I know that there will be people that will get fined because they didn't have one. Spend your money on icefishing equipment and not on a fine.   Jerry

I know what you mean. I havn't taken out my atv yet this year because I keep forgetting to get one. Oh well I need the walk I guess. Plus I think they should have sent something out to all Wi. registered owners to let everyone know. But instead they do it as a hear say deal. I luckely found out a few days after it was passed. I am not saying it is a bad idea since it does make some what sense to why they did it. So when they are after someone out screwing around and driving away that they can still get there atv number.

I'm all for have a good time and having fun. I don't think plates on a ATV is a bad thing I kind a like it. Some people need to be turned in it's easier to get someone #  We do a lot of trail riding and have seen a lot of jerks out there, the ones that should be fined for screwing around. Have fun is one thing, but the  public trails are not the place for screwing around.

Nice way to punish all law abiding riders because of a few jerks. Can’t believe people actualy go along with this foolish cr*p.

Those that give up liberty for security, receive neither.

Here is what it says on the WI DNR web site. The way it says it I would say you need it if you are riding on public land. As it does say All UTVs and ATVs required to register for Public Use shall have a plate attached to the rear of the vehicle.

License Plate Requirement
All UTVs and ATVs required to register for Public Use shall have a plate attached to the rear of the vehicle. This includesUTVs and ATVs that were already registered before July 1, 2012.The plate must be made or purchased by the owner, and willnot be provided by the DNR. The plate shall be a minimum of4 inches in height and a minimum of 7 1/2 inches in width. Theplate shall be white and shall display, in black letters/numbers,the four-number and two-letter registration ID number for theall-terrain vehicle or utility terrain vehicle issued by the department. The registration ID numbers shall be a minimum of 1 1/2 inchesin height, and a minimum of a 3/16-inch stroke (width)

I just talked to the DNR, they said "You do not have to have a plate but you have to pay for a trail pass to use a AVT on a lake, It's $25.00 for 5 days. I think that's  just another  BULL S#%T way the  DNR commies try to suck money out of the working man.
