I was just on the strikemaster site and I do not see a offset handle for my ld-8.  I sent them a email because I am very interested in one.  Was actually thinking of going to a battery auger this winter but will see.

I have read somewhere on this forum that guys had success calling the company itself to place an order since its not shown on their site.

Hello???  :woot: :woot: :woot: ;D

Strikemaster makes an off-set handle... wish they would market it more...

I sent strikemaster a email about buying a offset handle.  They said they do not make nor carry them.  yet I thought i saw the opportunity on the new synthetic auger to get either or?

I was told "this year" they wont be making them...  :%$#!:
They "should" be in the furture though. I'll try and find out if anyone has any stashed away somewhere...

Give them some time to get all situated... Strikemaster has been sailing rough waters with new engines, buy outs, shut downs, and new ownership. Give them this season, they will be back stronger than ever.

ive had a few different hand augers and been able to use a few of my buddies.i started off with an ht piece of garbage and they sent me a whole new auger, still junk. then i had a mora. decent hand auger. got to use a lazer which was sweet compared to the mora and then a finbore micro which was great. i purchased a nils after all this and i would say its better than the finbore because i own it and use it more but in the end theyre probably about the same. nils or finbore you will be good.youll be glad you purchased it.
........
couple years ago ,my one of the son-in-laws permenatly borrowed my mora----i bought a brand new HT 5" this summer ---are they really that bad ?---should i just write it off and get the nils or strike master
Dang-it....missed another

It will be as good as any Mora with good blades. So, you didn't go backwards in quality IMO.
Just don't expect it to cut any better is all.
Some of these newer augers are a world of difference though.
Stop a guy you see using one. You can tell from a ways out because both arms are cranking. If he won't let you touch his auger. You'll be able to see how much easier they cut just watching.
The angle of the dangle is directly proportionate to the heat of the beat.

I bought the Micro-fin bore 6" (green) folding handle and i like it, folds up nice to travel with..After using Strikemasters all these years getting used to it was different but its pretty smooth. I had it sent to me from a place in Canada, 95.00 plus 26.00 shipping.

Yeah the shipping is crazy. No tax though..I went on line to the company MercersMarina.com and cant find the model on there unless I missed something? It's nice the way it folds down to about 24-32 "Good luck finding one.

I've used a Nils 6" a few times (when the gas auger is down) and it cuts right through the ice.  Leads me to wonder why I even bother bringing the gas auger.  Hope this helps.

Take a nils out for a day and see how many people come over to ask about it.  No auger is faster and easier to use and i dont have the power head. The nils is the best investment you will make, i say investment cuz it will last forever.

Nils all the way. You will not regret it! The energy you spend drilling one hole with a mora, or lazer is equivalent to 10 holes with the nils.

I ran into the same thing last week I have a barracuda that takes the same handle as the lazer and i asked if they had some or knew where i could get one they said the wont be producing anymore.  I bought a nils handle of ebay for 10 bucks and will build an adapter and see how it works.

I have had an HT arctic express 7" hand auger for about 4 years now. It's HT's version of the lazer. Been using it on my ice gator, too. Blades have never been resharpened and still cut like new. The only thing I've had to do with it is have some broken welds re welded. But for using a hand auger on a power auger I sort of expected that. I have been pleased with it.

My best auger is a 7"inch Strike Master Lazer Hand Auger. We drilled over 30 holes a day easy. My dad can drill a hole in 15 seconds. It is probably one if the best hand augers. The blade is literally like a razor it comes put of the package extremely sharp. The cool thing is we were drilling holes in up to 15"inches of ice. What I say is if your going to buy a hand auger buy the best one possible.

Heard of. Yes. Made by Strikemaster (?) Used. No. I had a Strikemaster and gave it away when I got a Nils. There are better options out there, e.g. Nils and Fin-Bore, which aren't that much more money. Buy once..... and all that.
