Dad headed down on last Tues. and fished by himself on Tues. and Weds. Fished Bay of Chickens and caught 11 rainbows and browns in 2 trips. Fished Iola boat ramp once and got skunked. I met him at the Bay on Thurs. morning. We each got 5 trout. Went back there in the afternoon and ice was getting real slushy. Dad got 14 and I got 4. Then he fell through the ice right next to shore. The water was only knee deep but his boots and pants were soaked. Open water by Red Creek island, dam, Gunnison inlet, and Bay of Chicks. On Friday morning I fished Elk Creek marina area and got 1 brown. Ice is still 1 foot thick there. We both had a ton of hits. Fish were real light biters. We kept 12 for Friday fish fry. Probably my last ice trip of the year.
