Looks like a tench.  I believe they are a recent invasive in the northern part of the lake.  I'm sure some one else can verify this.

Tench. We have been seeing more of them the last year or so coming from the bays where sunnies are fished.

Looks kinda like a sucker- sometimes those ugly fish eat well though. Wolfish is the ugliest nastiest fish in the ocean and tastes like lobster. (not the sucker though ;D)

Nice Tench!  How big was it?  I caught one around 5lbs this spring while fishing for smallmouth.  I could literally see dozens of them in the shallows one warm sunny day.

If I remember right, they came down from Canada.  Someone was raising them to sell, high water hit, and now we have them.  I believe if you look back in the vtfg archives you will see a report there under news.  I will try to find and post here.

Well I'm 160lbs and depending on who you talk to I am even slimier than I look  ::)

I've done some research on them and they do have small scales with a thick skin giving them a slimy appearance, they're common across most of Europe and after soaking them in clean water for a day or two to cut down on mud tastes, they are reportedly good table fare.

I prefer not to eat anything I have to soak in water for 2 days to let the toxins out!

most water ways in England have low oxygen levels, carps species are some of the few that can survive...
