Sounds like a plan. That means leaving Idaho Falls at 0430. That will suck but should be alot of fun. Do we have a count of how many Ice shanty people will be there?

How long does it take from Boise? Thinking 3 hours but it looks like a long ways off highway 20 and I heard it is a dirt road (Cottonwoods road). I think we are going just been waiting for more details.

hmstn.  the road is paved and not that far from highway.  no problems getting there at all yesterday.  i would say 20-25 min past Shoshone or 15 from timerman hill juncture. (blinking light).  not sure if 4wheelers can be used in tournament, but would be beneficial.  ice is 18 inches. but most of the perch sounds like have been caught 1 or so miles north west of the resort.  i caught trout around the island just out and left of the resort but it was slow.  i would say quality fish though.

this was posted around the 14th by big fish #1

caught 200 perch and a 4lb brown.  i asked where and he replied

go to the narrows from westside resort till u see a cabin on the hill. there is a shack on the ice we were about 1/4 mile from it towards hotsprings and the perch were hot not alot of size some up to 12 inches but mostly small but way funnnnnn....

thats why i say use a sled or wheeler cause it would be about 1 mile walk.  you can see the shanty on the ice  after you pass the island to the northwest.

Can a person get an ATV from Highway 20 down to Hot Spring Landing then out on the ice or would it just be better to go to the Resort and ride from there? I am lost at Magic but from what I remembered being posted here that the narrows/Hot springs area is better.

i would say west magic because they have a big area roped off by the airport (which is across the street from the resort)  you have to check in at the resort for the tourney anyway, from my understanding of the rules.  ya,  saw 10 4 wheelers on monday, at any given time, going up that way.  most stuck to the shore line.

Hamstn, I took my 4wheeler from hwy 20 down the narrows a bunch of times last year. Havn't been this user but it shouldn't be an issue.
