new to the laker fishing going out for the first time. just wondering what # line to use ? i havent been able to find anything on this sub. iv got 6 # cajun red line on one jig pole. that sound alright with the smallest swedish pimple they make (green).. i also got some larger pear colored pimples. not looking for your setups just looking for a push in the right direction...

6 lb is a tad light for lakers, if you have a good drag you'll be okay. I run 10 lb at the lightest after losing some nice trout at the hole ! The pimples tipped with shiners or sucker meat strips will work most any spoon like a williams even big daredevils will attract them. I sent some other info by PM. Good luck.

I'm now using 15# and 24# Tuff Line Duracast.
It's a coated braid that doesn't ice up like regular braids and is super sensitive.

When I use pimples or spoons, I swap out the treble hook for a siwash hook. I run the hook in one eye and out the other, it give the shiner a nice fluttering action on the lift and fall of the jigging motion.

I run 15-20 # braid with same strength 3 foot floro leader. Lakers can get big , you don't wanna risk loosing the beauty by using too light of line. On that set up even 4-6 pounders put up a good fight. Just loosen Thr drag setting to fit the size of fish you have on
