Stolen ice rod at Skaguay Res.
« on: Feb 13, 2012, 08:56 PM »
Well, I'm 3 days late but here goes. Went fishing Friday afternoon with Jerry at Skaguay. Was only at the lake about 20 minutes when Rain Bow pulled my ultra-light ice rod down the hole. Was 12 feet away at my other rod when the rod on the pail started twitching. Got up and took a step and the rod bent in half. The rod then jumped off the pail and I dove for it and jammed my hand down the ice hole. Had it in my hand for a second and then it was gone. Arm in my wool suit was froze in 1.5 hours. Left an hour early because of cold wrist and hand and numbness. Did I ever think this would happen at Skaguay? NO. Yes at Elevenmile or Antero. Always secure the rods at those lakes. I ended up catching 4 rainbows and keeping 2. Jerry caught 2 rainbows and kept them. He also released a small pike.

That sucks! I've been hearing that there are a few large fish in there.

Sorry to hear this EDB.  And it kind of figures, eh?  Some days without bad luck we'd have no luck at all.  As Coboy said, at least it indicates that there are some big fish in there.

Must be a few bigger ones in there, unless it was  a pike.
