Thanks for sharring those Pictures . Your liven the dream . Have to see one of those flashers 7 work on the ice. Can one use them on a boat also?

Yes you can buy the summer kit which is like $100 bucks and it comes
With a mountable transducer and a gimble bracket for the display.
I would way rather be fishing

Looks like an awesome trip man!!
I have weighed a few lakers and there weights are always deceiving. I don't know if its cause of the amount of fat in them but they always way much less than a salmon of the same size.
I will offer up a guess that the biggest may have been about 15....if it was a salmon 20

This fish went 12

I was running 20# braid with 20 # floro leader

I will probably go down to 15 next time as 20 was a bit much

When I was up there I was running 14lb/6lb diameter braid with a 14lb fluro leader swiveled on and it was a decent combo.

Cold Lake was very quiet today.  We lucked out with 2 keepers just over 65cm weighing 6 and 7 lbs.  Weighed by the biologist at the ramp.
Fishing blind, no flasher.

Marcum LX-7 on its way  .....     :)

There was a big disappointment to the trip   >:(    Some week end people left food containers, chip bags, beer cans and other garbage on the ice.
These folks were real "pigs".   We cleaned it up and brought it home to our garbage dumpster.

Needless to say I was not impressed.

That's just brutal..... Reminds me of the good lake sturgeon spots on the south sask. you will go one time and it's littered with garbage ( fishin line, hooks, plastics, beer bottles, you name it). You fill up all the garbage bags you got, only to come back a week later with 4X as much trash there now. I won't even take my dog with me there is sO much hazardous material laying around.

These types of people are what ruins a fishery in my opinion.

Eztiaan,

The unit is still in customs if the postal tracker is correct.  Lake trout fishing was very poor on Saturday.
They are there but just not biting.

Snow and high winds today.  We will go up to C.L. tomorrow, sunny and +11C.

I spent my week end perch fishing.

Tuesday  ....  very slow, caught one under size.  Lost one, broke my 10 lb. fluoro-carbon leader near the buck tail jig.
Eztiaan the lost fish was at your spot.

The ice heave that allows you to travel to the east (Sask)  opened again.  Not safe to cross.

Right on Tom, man I wish I could fish as much as you
Do. I think I would develop arthritis in my elbow from catching too many fish however. After my summer job catching 300+ lake sturgeon my arm was ruined haha. I wish so badly that I could make it to cold lake one more time before season ends...... Not gonna happen tho. But cold lake will definitely see me next season.
I can't wait to hear how the lx 7 changes your icefishing success completely.

The season "is" closing to quickly.  The LX should be here tomorrow or Thursday.  I'll get a
few days training out of it.

Used the LX 7 on perch in 9 ft. of water.   Awesome ........
I was really able to work the bottom 2 ft.

Snow storm tomorrow.  Hopefully we will get back to C.L. on Monday.

I like using the lx 7 for perch, what I found to work is fishing a good 2-4 ft above the school draws out the bigger more aggressive perch. Always seem to get the nice keepers that way. They desperate front the school and attack. Sometimes the bottom 4 ft of the zoom is just solid fish so you
Kinda have to do that if you wanna be prepared for the hit

What knot do you use on a 1/2oz to 1 oz jig for Lake Trout?

I used an improved clinch knot when I went lake trout fishing and never lost a lure. What knot do you usually use?
