Anyone going? Anyone been to the Battle? Thinking about heading up to the tourney. Just trying to get a feel for what it's all about.

My son was there last year with his high school ice fishing team, and he was quite impressed. Lots of people, and a good time.

Winnebago, Butte des Morts, Winneconne, and Poygan can be fished for the Battle on Bago. The river system is off limits. This is a new rule and is going to be this way from now on.

Did any Ice Shanty members win anything? I entered, fished and had a great time, but came home without a prize. I will be back next year.

I am guessing from news reports if your vehicle wasn't bobbing in the water, you won.

Congratulations! That made the long wait in the weigh-in line worthwhile.

Thanks, I took mine in early, walked right up to the scale, no waiting what so ever!  ;D

I was there caught one nice perch and one small perch. It was pretty crazy watching the trucks fly by at 45-50mph on the ice. I'm from Illinios so I have never seen trucks out on the ice like that. From the news reports it sounds like alot of people should have found land parking instead of ice parking.

what I dont understand is after all those trucks went in on Saturday we were out again on Sunday and there were still trucks parked out on the ice when there was all kinds of parking open in the parking lot.

Some full size trucks wizzed by us as well, the noise the ice was making and shaking we thought we were going to the bottom.  :%$#!: :cookoo:

i took 15th out of 2600 and I won a thermacell prize package..... The prize kind of sucks considering i beat out 2585 other fisherman....Oh well, better than nothing! This was my first time at this event and it was a blast! I will be there next year!

I also weighed in early. 930ish to be precise. No line at all, rode the atv right up to the tent to weigh in!

This is the third year we have been in it, it's the only "tournament" that I fish in. We have a group that fish it together, this year it was 7 guys and we all registered fish. I like it because I can win a great prize without having to catch the biggest fish. So far our group has gotten a prize three years running, $1000.00, a Frabill suit, and a LX-5. We try to get the timing of registering our fish right to get us in the right spots to win prizes. We also setup the grill and have a cookout on the ice, it's a great time. Also, it's important to remember that this is really a fund raiser for area youth and conservation more than it is a "fishing tournament".

that's awesome! Them are great prizes I've done a few tourneys this year or so called tourneys and most of the prizes were 5 dollars cash free sub at subway little stuff like that to me that's not really a tournament now this tournament sounds awesome I mean winning nice prizes like that is awesome! And also like u said u don't have to have the biggest fish to wim the biggest prize I seen how they had all the prizes moved around and stuff which is great I will defiently be there next year that's for sure sounds like a really good time!

Some peoople just like to push there limits, whether or not its to prove someone wrong, or being lazy and not willing to walk to fish.... All i know is that for the price of your truck or car going in the water you could buy an atv or sled.
