West Magic Ice Report

West Magic is all froze over. The main water has about 8" of ice and the coves are any where from 24"-30". Fishing was slow last Saturday but still better than the alternative, honey do's. The West Magic Resort is hosting an ice fishing tournament on the 25th. I don't have all the information yet but I've heard they have it posted on their Facebook page. I'll try to get more info for those that don't Facebook like me.

I've also got reports that folks are catching fish at Little Wood Res in Carey. A dude from here at work caught a 6lb'r out there last week.

cool aren't we doing the get together there on that weekend of the tourney, that will be cool..... looking forward too this..... always like a friendly competition....

"West Magic Resort There are places where it is 6" and others have 3' ~ around Biscuit Island is the most shallow. Most of the locals are on the north side of Lava heading towards Hot Springs. Hopefully we'll get better reports as folks come off the ice today."

Talked to a couple folks on the ice saturday that had no luck but we did well on trout. This was my first time fishing magic and we put 16 trout on the ice. Spent all day out there but the weather was great. Hope to make it up there for the tournament...sounds like a great time.

Hey Matt, yep the IS get together is the same day as their derby. Would be really cool to get some 'Spudsickles' in the winners' circle!
