Saturday at the Mile
« on: Feb 04, 2012, 08:20 PM »
Was a great day at the Mile today weather wise.Calm and sunny as the day progressed. Met up with some friends and
the bite was on early.Caught seven trout for the day, largest just 18".Also a 22" pike. The stocker pictured had quite a gash in it! As its been the case lately I missed a nice trout as I was retying a lure.
Saw six pike today, three at 30". The fishing shut down after 10AM. Picked up a little late afternoon but not like previous days. Two inches of fresh snow. Not nearly as much snow in this neck of the woods compared to out east. The roads are plowed. The park ranger made his rounds today.Only the third time I've seen them out. Funny that I don't see them around during those blustery days. Tight lines.

Nice day Mark. That's one heck of a gash. Someone's getting hungry!!!  ;)

You caught some pretty awesome fish.

Are you going back tomorrow?

Nice job Coboy!  Too bad for that fish that some pike was picking on it.  I'll be out tomorrow and will post afterwards.

Hey, I've been meaning to ask you, what's the brownish thing on the floor of your hut?  I carry a tarp for the Eskimo Quickfish, yours looks better.  What is it?

Good day on the lake, Mark,

Early bite seems to be the deal everywhere I've been this year no matter what species.  Good work getting some nice ones. @)

"B" I'll be out tomorrow(today). Yesterday was only a high of 16F but felt like 40F because of no wind. Colorado,I grabbed two rubber floor tiles from Honnen ice rink at Colorado College. They were
replacing the floor and had a few pallets stacked up with them.

Great hooking up with you again, Mark. That slimer almost became a pike's meal!

Is there a lot of snow on the ice after the storm?  I am heading out there tomorrow and thinking i need the ski platform.

Two inches of snow total on the ice. Cleats are still recommended.
