SC ice?
« on: Feb 04, 2012, 07:33 PM »
Anyone know how the ice is the Sioux city area?  Didn't know if the completely ruined it?  Colder weather coming. Next weekend things should be good to go again. Night lows in the teens and low 20s. Day highs in low 30s

open water at snyder's as of Sunday. There's snow there but not at brown's lake lol that's how fast the snow cutoff was. There was a couple of shacks out on brown's Saturday, and i didn't see any standing water on  the ice.

So the ice must be halfway safe at browns? Have you heard how the bite has been? Never have fished hardwater there but might have to give it a shot this weekend

was out at Bacon Creek yesterday.  Ice was 5.5-6.5 inches thick.  Bite was consistent.  Not super fast, but caught fish all day long.  Caught 30 fish:  6 trout, 1 crappie, 4 bass, 2 perch, and 17 bluegills.

cleaned 5 trout, 4 gills and a crappie.

Ice was extremely noisy from 9-12, then was silent after that.  Spooky cracking noises freak me out.......even though I know that doesn't indicate I'm going to fall in.

So does anybody know where they were "supposedly" catching walleye at Browns? ??? The DNR said straight off the boat ramp. We went out on saturday and fished the deepest spot of 9ft and out from the reeds straight across from the ramp in about 6 ft. We didnt catch a thing. Should we of been more into the reeds in about 4ft? Any help would be greatfully appreciated
Thanks

I've heard out from the swimming are, not the ramp.  But that's just talking.  I've never fished wally in Browns

how thick was the ice.

7-8 feet of water, straight out from either point really.  they come in thru that area.  if you wanna walk alot, you can go down to the bend and fish the area closer to the houses on the bend.  they hang there in spring and fall.

dave isom was on bacon 2 days ago, had alot of soft spots that the spud bar went thru.  its bad bad ice 2 days ago, and the weather hasn't gotten really cold, so i would stay clear away.

musta built some ice or you fished somewhere else in bacon.  the best fishing in bacon is always back in the creek area by the cat tails.

I always start in the creek across from the cattails.......caught nothing and moved a lot......not marking much.

Moved out from the rocks.  16 FOW and catching them in 10.
