There is always a lot of open water until the end of January to the middle of February. There is plenty of ice from the Elk Creek Marina back to the Lake City bridge. A good 12" plus.

Went out and caught 5 fish. 4 rainbows and 1 Lake Trout. Laker was 18.5"
2 Stocker size rainbows and 1 at 14.5" and the biggest was 16" Caught all 4 rainbows in a half hour. Spent 3 hours trying for the Lake trout and had 2 others on that got off about 10 feet down. That was in 60 FOW and the Rainbows were at 14 FOW. Beautiful day and got sun burnt face.

There is a lot of people going to the Dry creek area. I have never fished there myself. Maybe next time.

Fished at Dry Creek most of the day Saturday,

Lots of folks on the ice,

We fished the bluffs for browns but they didn't cooperate at all.  A few 20" lake trout and about 30 rainbows for the 5 of us, but mostly stockers.  We each had 1 or 2 nice bows around 17"-18".  A slow bite, the jig had to be still mostly but slightly twitched once in a while.  Fish were most active in 15-20 FOW.  Ratso's and Finkee's tipped with mealies or shrimp.

Good deal. A couple of years ago I went to the Lake City Bridge and caught all bows until 3:30. Then all the browns came in. We caught several 15-18" Browns in a half hour. Thursday I caught 4 Bows in a half hour using a slender spoon with shrimp. They would hit it as soon as it got to the bottom of 14'. If they didn't hit it right away I would pull out the line in one hand and raise the rod until I could see the lure and then drop it back slowly.

Good report.  After all this sight fishing frustration at the Mile I'll be glad to get a day at Big Blue or Granby and stare at my vex for a while.
