Tip Up Smoothness
« on: Feb 07, 2005, 09:17 PM »
I have an HT polar therm tip up that seems to pay out line a little less smoothly than my windlass and even my HT cheapo econo tip up. Any tips to try and see if I can get the line to play out smoother? What are some other really smooth stationary tip ups?

It just seems to have more resistance than my others. It will pay out line but with more drag than the other two. I will try the polars. Describe the experience did you have with the polar therm?

Mine is okay, but it seems to take a little more pulling to get the line off, even though it comes off with basically no resistance. It's just that the line flows so freely off my windlass and my econo tip up, which is just a wood one worth about $2. It just doesn't flow as freely and I have everything set as loose as possible. Maybe it needs more lube.
