I wanna FISH!!!

Ok new to the area so I have no idea where to go or what lakes may be safe this time of year.  I am unemployed and just sent out my 100th resume so now its time for some freakin fishing!  I live in Parker, CO so where can I do that I won't have to buy two tanks of gas to get to/from?  I just want to drown some bait and enjoy the outdoors so I don't mind if the heat is on...  actually i hope its cold so I don't fall through. ;)
