How cold is too cold for you?
« on: Jan 15, 2012, 11:50 PM »
At what temps does your ambitions get too low to wanna head out?

For the laker fishing it seems to be -15, cuz seems to be just too hard on em to have em out of the water for any length of time..
Was out today and without shanty the wind seems to chill ya pretty good.. am i just im gettin a lil soft, and just need a hibernation day? ;D ;D

I'll tell you what you need, you need a guy with a tent and a heater and then it will be way warmer for you and the fish. Then you need a guy with a snowmobile to haul everything in there with. Did I mention I have all those things?  ;)2

We were out yesterday and the times I went outside the tent to answer the call of nature I just about froze up  :o

I think it all depends on the wind. I fished Pete's with no tent last year in -31, but it was dead calm and sunny. That didn't seem so bad. If the wind is blowing, I would say -20 is where I draw the line.

Saturday was -20C with a 40kmh wind here. No problem     ;)2
Yesterday was -30C with a 25kmh wind. I stayed home.   ;D
I don't go out when it's like that. Windchill was -45 in the AM.   :woot:
Too hard trying to keep things warm and too hard on the fish.

I knew you would be sand bagging,  I just wanted to get in on the trophy draws whenever that may be. maybe I'll make a trip to the lakes where everyone catches these 20-21 inchers then we'll see whats up  ;D

;D   Dukes----   lets go,  we should go to some of those lakes,  you can drive, that way I can save some money, all this driving is killing my wallet   :-\    Dont worry,  I'll thank you in my acceptance speech, at the closing ceremony   ;D

Bill---  I've learned from TGF that poker players hold their cards til the end of the game

Ian--   you think I'm bluffin?  we've talked in PM's before and when have I steered you wrong in the past?

I think you guys need to read how the contest works,  there is no weekly "trophy draws", at the end of the derby all fish that meet the "trophy" benchmark then get thrown into a hat and lonewolf draws 1 trophy prize from that category,  if I post a trophy sized fish during the last week of the derby, how am I missing the  trophy draw?

20/20 is where I draw the line in the snow and stay home.  -20C with a  20 Km wind.
I rarely keep any fish.  its not good to take any fish out of the hole and expose them to  flash-freezing temps unless you plan on keeping 'em.

Have pictures of my 7 year old son doing snow angels at Tcheeda below -40.  Granted the truck was running within 500m because we were concerned about it not starting again.  Was 30 below at turn-off and just kept getting colder.  All depends on the cloths you wear.
