Mogadore Ice Conditions / Congress Lake Rd.
« on: Feb 06, 2005, 09:01 AM »
I have Monday and Tuesday off and am looking to find some fishable hardwater... grew up around Mogadore and know that Congress Lake section usually holds ice well.  Around greater Pittsburgh area we are losing the ice around the edges and had only have 5 - 7 inches to start with anyway... worried that with the near 60 degree temps today that nothing around where I live will be fishable.  Hoping someone who fishes today can tell me how the ice is before I drive two hours to get there.

Thanks!

Fished off Congress Lake Rd yesterday, ended up with 20 gills, could have kept a dozen. Evening bite is all kinds of hot, as usual out there. There was a good 6 inches of ice, 5 of it was clear and good.

This rain should put a dent in it, but by Thursday, it'll all be re-frozen again for the weekend.

BTW, I'll be up at Presque Isle Bay next weekend, Feb 19 and 20. If you see a large guy in orange camo hauling a Frabill Ice Cruiser 200 around, that's me.
