Haliburton Lakers
« on: Jan 15, 2012, 07:42 PM »
Great but brutally cold day out Saturday, -24 when we rolled up. Just the one fish but a beauty just shy of 5lbs. Best fight I've had, I caught a 7lb 15oz laker in the same spot last year but this fight was amazing. My drag on a brand new Lacroix combo was partially frozen so I almost lost the fish. 8" solid ice on this lake.

great pics Icepuppy...Lacroix?  Must have been a nail-biter of a fight with frozen drag.  I have that problem too on some of my reels...anyone got a solution?

Sorry, meant St. Croix, I know there are some low temp greases that might work, maybe this?

Nice Laker! Haliburton is such a nice area, only fished there in the soft water season. Love to get up there for some hard water action.

What lake is that, Kash?  My cousin lives up there and I basically grew up in Gelert so may end up fishing there some time this winter.
