Looking forward to that Derby on Jan 28. We always hit Quabog Pond where the weigh-ins are on the boat launch but this year looks sketchy.
Last year there was 8" of ice covered by 8" of slush....unfishable. I won the canoe in the raffle though....sweet!

Hopefully mother nature smiles on us.

Yes, the conditions for getting around were horrible. Everyone was like 150 yards from shore. They took a pretty good hit on the number of people too.

How much ice does the lake have now ? It usually freezes quick !

drove by last saturday and had open water on south pond .sucks without ice.

looking at the LT weather, the bog will have a chance to lock-up and freeze for the derby.  I highly doubt that anyone will be driving on it this year though

makes for a LONG walk if you prefer the far side like us . Let's hope for no snow , gear glides better on glare ice ! Not to mention the parking situations if you can't drive out .

i remember a good 10 years ago it was really warm and really windy. no snow on the ice either. we fished over by the river, walk out was cake, you could almost sit in your sled and let the wind push you across. not so much for the walk back to the ramp, in fact we werent sure we could make it back to the ramp against the wind. i got drunker than  though, so all in all it was a good time 

I like those days , its like your walking a dog ,your sled just glides beside you I think of it as a lottery pond ! Sometimes ya win & sometimes ya win BIG ! I've seen pigs come out of there ,and I believe the gold pin for pike 2011 is supposedly from there !?
