Willow Slough Forecast Screenshot

If this forecast stays fairly true, you think it'll hurt ice making? I'm fairly new to ice fishing so I'm kinda dumb when it comes to the affects of snow before there's solid ice. Also, if we do have safe ice, will Mondays forecast of upper 30's and rain screw it up? Tanks.

From what i have always heard adding snow to lakes is like adding ice to ur drink. And with those cold temps overnite and a couple cold daytime temps i would venture to say fishable ice isnt far away. Esp.if those njtetime lows keep up.

Snow on ice is bad.  Especially when you only have couple inches of ice.  Too much snow will weigh it down and sink the ice.  Light fluffy snow is like a down blanket and will insultate the ice not allowing the cold temps to make more ice.  6" of snow on what little ice we have will be a disaster.

At least in central Indiana, I don't think we will have ice until after the snow. Nothing is really froze and I hope it doesn't until snow stops. Snow on skinny ice is bad.Snow on golf course is bad.No ice and no golf make Paul go something, something....

The good thing is the wind. Blowing at 30 it may just keep the snow blowed off. I dont think they are calling for much more than 3 inches down that way

This is true but only on open water. Once it's locked,it's like adding a down comforter.

if the wind is blowing at 30 mph. and there is open water all it is going to do is open more water. you dont want wind or snow on new ice.       DADDY'O
