Brattleboro, VT Retreat Meadows
« on: Jan 08, 2012, 10:00 PM »
Guys,

I used to live in Brattleboro, VT but moved to Pennsylvania and the ice has not formed yet on my three favorite lakes yet. Is the ice firm in Brattleboro, VT around Connecticut River Bays yet? Please advise as I am itching to get out this weekend to ice fish. Thanks.

Frank

Just spoke with a bait shop owner in brattleboro and he said that there is plenty of ice out there, but the shore lines are a little rough. Weather FRI SAT AND SUN looks hopeful?
Friday high 33 low 14
Saturday high 30 low 9
Sunday high 25 low 8
Monday High 27 low 16

Anyone think it is worth it for me to give it a shot and sunday and Monday?  If I'm wasting my time i would definitely appreciate and honest answer.  Thanks guys

I fished the retreat meadows all day Monday, 5 inches of solid ice once you get past the first two feet from shore. Fishing was good, some nice northerns, bass, and perch. Who knows after the warmer weather this week but I imagine this weekend will be fine. I'll be out either way

Im fishing sunday.  Im traveling from boston and have to pick up my more than likely hungover friend.  I hope to be on the ice by 930... realistically 10, i will have to go to the baitshop on Draper Lane.  We are gonna fish all day and stay in brattleboro and fish monday too.  We will be the group 2 girls 2 guys, Im very tall and my buddy is very short (you will see what i mean).  Def feel free to stop by for a beer or food (im thinking sausage pepper and onions on the grill  ;D)  Im really lookoing forward to it since it is my first outing of the year...

I fished the meadows Monday and Tuesday. Ice was fine, edges a little tricky. Northerns and perch. Great to be out. My one complaint....too many skaters!

if you park in front of the landing and walk down the trail towards the Retreat, there are 2 big landings and we have placed 2x6s over the first few feet to get you to the solid ice. Dont even think you need them but just gives you a little piece of mind, and keeps the boots dry.
