All are welcome, the more the merrier.  If they happen to have a cute friend I'm 45 single
and sexy as hell in a pair of ice fishing bibs.  ;D

Me love you long time.  ;D

Hey fishing kid, don't sweat the small stuff.  Last year NewPilgrim landed his first ever
iced fish at the gathering and he has a lot more years then you.  We'll get you up and
running, show you how a flasher works and anything else you might need.  if you need
to barrow some gear, lets us know and I'm sure we can loan you anything you might need.

Gone and MBS, hope to see you.

Justalooksee,  will be great fishing with you again.  Tell JersyGirl to swaddle the Papoose up in
some layers and come out and at least visit us for a while.

John

No, there isn't.  The entire Conn. River has been fished out.

People are out there as I type.  Edges are typical River edges.  Up and down.

I haven't fished there in a week or so but somebody said 8-10.  Quite possible
as that place holds ice like crazy.  I'm going to try to skip over there today and
check things out.

Sorry to hear that Mark.  Catch a ride with some body and swaddle the little on up.  The
wife won't mind  ;D

Fished there on Sunday.  8 inches of ice but getting on is trickie. Couldn't get the Wheeler on. You'll need planks unless it gets real cold. Caught numerous small Perch, two LB, two NP and several Punkinseeds.

Might be there

Hey, we could set up a trebuchet in the parking lot and just launch our gear onto the ice!   :o

Thanks for the up-date  p209.  Punker, Perch, Bass, and Northern Pike?
Sounds like a typical river haul.  I see you have been a member for a while
put haven't really posted.  Welcome and thanks for the PM as well.

I popped over there this afternoon and things are as P2 stated, only sloppier.
The main entry was under about a foot of water but I was able to get on  at
one spot and come back at another with dry feet.  You couldn't get an atv on, but
really, you need an atv at Bartons like a fish needs a bicycle.  I understand if you
have one and want to use it but it really isn't necessary.

For those not familiar with Bartons,  it's only about a hundred yards to the ice and
in spots it's 15 feet deep 5 yards off shore.  We usually set main camp about 75 yards
out and people branch out from there.

It's a river so there will always be issues with the edges and we know how to deal
with it. The ice gets supper thick there and once you are on you are all good.  I have planks
and Scotty is bringing the ladder (Scotty Boy, I like your thinking ;D )

If this weather keeps up, we might have some of the only safe ice east of Rt 91 by Feb. >:(

Bite your tongue! I don't have time to be driving that far west to ice fish, and I have to find some walleye now!

I look forward to this. Hope someone is there to lend me some planks or whatever to get on. How far is the parking from the ice? I've never been.
Cheers,

Pete

Hi Pete, like I said in the post above, I have a set of 10 foot ramps that I will bring out if need be and we will get every one on safely.  I've been known to skate on thin ice myself but I would never invite a group out if it isn't 100% safe.  Overnight lows are predicted to be in the mid twenty's for the next week or so, that should keep things locked up.  I will be checking ice regularly next week and posting up.  As I stated above, it is tops 100 yards from the large parking lot to the ice.

Scotty, the only way you are going to catch a Walleye this winter is if you take a little drive west.  As you know it is not all that far, it's not like going all the way to the Berks. They are in there and every year a few nice ones come out of Bartons.

Hope you can make it out Jiggy.

Likewise Stripernut, and Capt'n! You guys are like my first mentors to the world of ice fishing.

I hope I can catch a big one too. I just laced up my new medium-heavy ice rod with 30lb braid with a wire leader, looking for that toothy Northern sucker.

Awesome.
