Been fishing in northern Michigan for 2 weeks. You might have to take a vacation.

No ice for me in my area either, lakes start to freeze.then we get temps in the 40's for days. Too bad I already winterized the boat a while ago.

May I suggest ROAD TRIP we have a good 10" been ice fishing for about almost 4 weeks this warm weather makes it seem like late ice beginning of April, you can almost fish in shorts and a tee shirt, it is knocking the snow down a bit. They staked the lakes and opened the snowmobile trails a few days ago. I think today will be the last day above freezing.

Yep.  Bummed totally.

Fed up now.  Will take a trip up north next weekend until I see some bucket sitters.  Maybe that fix will get me through.

Measured 11 inches of good clear ice yesterday, plenty to walk on.  Not so sure I want to drive my full size tahoe and heavy perm out there quite yet.  Hoping for next week.

Gotta take advantage of whats good if you don't want to drive to find ice.  Tons of steelies up in the great lakes tribs right now.  Walleyes and crappies are biting good in the open water.  Its also small game season pretty much everywhere.  No excuses not to get out.

Well, I've done it.   :woot: Pushed all the ice fishing stuff back in it's Summer hole.  :'( It's sunny and 44 here, with a warm front for next week....we have no snow, green grass, all open water. it takes the rivers around here a good two months to freeze up, with constant cold weather. Ain't gonna happen before it's time for spring fishing....I intend to purchase a new boat, looking right now in prep for the Spring Crappie season. I know, I know, someone go and slap me.... :pinch:

I had to drive my daughter to Eau Claire, WI. today and saw 2 people in a boat fishing the river as I drove over the bridge. Good ice is only 1:45  hour drive north. I guess they couldn't wait for ice any longer down there.
