Colchester pond conditions 1.2.2012
« on: Jan 03, 2012, 06:00 AM »
Well I got skunked for the first time on colchester pond.....fished Monday from 8am until about 1:30.....1 flag.  As for the conditions.....was at the south end by the dam....3-4 inches of black ice that held me up and did not crack under foot....the further from shore the thinner the ice......I would not have others stand close to be safe....should make ice the next few days.

Good luck and be safe!
The closest flag up may be the one that is behind you !

Thanks for the report. Any info on what the North End was looking like?

Looks like there is 4-5" of decent quality ice over the whole pond, some pretty big pressure cracks but we walked across to the east side with plenty of ice under us.

When I checked last week there was 3-4" on south end with only 1" @ the north end. Please be careful 2 less inches early is a lot.

I fish it often since it is close to home.....especially early season....there are some decent fish in there too.
