I had been thinking this for a while now and after reading a great rant to my girlfriend from someone here in VT recently (she said the same) it would be awesome to just have a "Like" button on shanty. Thoughts..

Can't stand Facebook, it's silly "LIKE" crap, and love the fact that I don't have to deal with it on the Shanty.

Leave Facebook on Facebook, I think the Shanty is doing just fine.

im not against it...perhaps it would cut down on the posts that dont say anything other than "x2"

sorry if I have upset anyone, after all, last night was New Years Eve...I guess being the kind of person that uses facebook, I have a natural inclination to go for that button and...well you get sorry for the trouble. delete this thread if you want to, or can.Happy New Year.

I would vote against a Like button. Only because it would remind me of Facebook which I'm trying to get out of, without much luck. A better idea is to put a Delete button on Facebook. Who would vote for that?

I deleted my facebook account about 6 mths ago. Best thing I ever did. Now to keep up with family and friends, I actually have to speak to them and communicate like the good ol days.... and that's sad considering I'm 29!!

as much as i hate facebook this is not a bad idea. it could definitely cut down on people repeating the same thing in posts in certain topics. for example when people talk about what lures you use in stead of having 20 post that say the same thing you will only need one. or if some one is debating over whether to buy a marcum or a vexilar it does not have to be 30 pages long while it only needs to be 1 or 2.

Another forum I get on for my college football team does a reputation meter. If you like someone's post you give them +1 rep by clicking the bar under their name, it also allows you to put a comment in it. I like that this site is simple and doesn't need the massive server hosting like the other forum I'm on has. Much more streamline and easy to use here. I would be ok with the rep button if you ask me.

I'd like that button with a dislike button also. I also like FB.

I often read posts but don't post a reply because I either don't have time or more often don't feel I have much to add to the conversation. I don't feel like that makes me a Lurker but some might think otherwise. At least with the buttons it would show that it is members who read the posts and not just non-members cruising for info (which I don't have a personal problem with but I understand many do).

On the flipside, I hope people would continue to add insight, inquiry and thought into posts and not devolve to a simple like or dislike on every initial post.

I hate facebook but, like the idea. Another forum I am on has it and it works great, to quickly comment on posts, say you post pics of nice fish Joe Blow can click on the like or thanks button rather than type it.
