Jig Pole line questions......
« on: Dec 11, 2011, 01:28 PM »
What # test do you guys run on your jig poles? I just put 6# on mine, but I have read of others going as low as 2#.
I fish mostly for trout, bass, pickeral and perch.  Will 6# work or should I be lighter?
thanks
Tyler

If I were fishing for trout I wouldn't hesitate to run a 6. When I fish lakers I put on 8 pound.. Most of poles have 4 pound. You can catch any fish on any line but it just takes more patients to land a big one on light line!

6# is your best bet for a "all around" rod. I run 4 and 6 on my trout rods. 6-12 on my laker rods. And 2-4 on pannies. Depends on the situation.

It’s not being Cocky if you can back it up.

Ok cool, I should be good with my 6# setup then.
I may put 4# on one rod for my trout expeditions though!
thanks guys
