Power Pro Ice 3#
« on: Dec 09, 2011, 11:16 PM »
I've had Power Pro Ice braid in 5# spooled on my rigs but recently found some in 3# online. It's noticeably thinner in dia. than the 5#; which was somewhat overkill on my UL rigs. I opted for the hi-vis yellow this time around. Paired w/ 2# Asso fluoro. leader...

Nice to have this lighter test available

I used the 3lb in blue last year on a 28' UL st. croix for perch and walleye with small number 2 jigging raps It worked just fine. I ran a fluoro leader as well, I never had any freezing issues outside of the shack on zero degree days maybe I am just lucky some guys hate it,. just my .02 cents

I can't find Suffix ice braid anywhere locally or online... would like to try it. Don't think they offer a 3# test

I've been happy w/ PP ice-- frosts up less than Fireline & I can't give up the senstivity of braid

I like any ice line that helps the tiny lures sink asp. I been experimenting with fireline/ sufix ice mono and ice mono berkley.  So this year I think I'll try a spool on one reel of  p-line flouro .. all my rigs are barreled and usually flouro carbon leadered. Flouro carbon line  is suppose to sink and I imagine it does alot faster than ice fireline  especially sub zero days when the line freezes on the spool. I read somewhere that co polymer lines also sink better than typical monofiliment I understand braid and know what it does on open water..it floats as any braid because of its design..it traps air. so it will certainly collect ice crystals even more than fusion line such as that ice crystal fireline. I am leaning towards flouro this year for pan fishing.. most panfishing debts don't demand low strech line anyway.
