Checked some ice today

Checked two lakes in the Gwinn area today, one had 3/4 of an inch of ice and cracked under my feet, and the other had a good clear inch on it, didn't crack at all...... soon!

Took a ride by some lakes here in the southern UP and it's not looking good. Unless we get several days of single digit lows it's going to be a couple of weeks.

I checked Strawberry Lake on Friday and it had a solid inch and a half

I got out fishing today, houghton county on about 3 inches of ice. Got into them a little late and came out with on e jumbo perch. The biggest I ever caught. No measurement though.

Checked Harlow in Marquette Co, practically no ice, just a very light coating in some spots, can't even step on it.

Careful with all that heavy snow, if you's in MQT got much. We got a good 6 inches of heavy stuff. Probably screwed up the ice I had for a few days until temps drop more.

Looking at the temps for the next week we are suppose to have below freezing temps from here on. Plan on goin next weekend.

Felt good to get out again today even though I didn't land any fish. Berg was able to jig up a perch and a tiny pike. Also got bit off at the hole by a decent sized pike. Gander mountain will have bait tomorrow so I'll be headed out again tomorrow.

How do you like the MarCum? I'm deciding between that and the Vexilar 18. Big price difference for the same features.

for the money i dont really think you can beat them. they do only go down to 160 so if you plan to fish lakers it may not be deep enough. for the inland lakes that i fish it works awesome. youll be happy with the marcum.

Yeah it was great to get on the ice again little sloppy but you have to expect a little slush early ice, nothing to bad though.... Temps are looking great this week!.  I agree with woody I have had my marcum for 2 years now cant beat it for the price. But whatever unit you decide on you will be happy with
