A lot of the guys who do this are in the states and have much thinner ice.

I can not see it lasting more than a couple holes at 3-4 feet of ice like we get around here.

Might be nice for early ice though?

Makita Li-ion 18V and a 6 inch eskimo auger I can drill 12 holes in 8 inches of ice before she sounds like the battery is winding down, no idea what an 8 inch auger would do.

Dont do it unless you hate your drill, 6 inch hand augers cut like nothing and are a better choice for first ice.  At 3 feet of ice you dont stand a chance.

Hey guys, I have an 8" lazer and an 18 volt Ryobi drill. I get about 3-4 holes thru 12-18" of ice here in Michigan.
Just got a 5" lazer to try with it. Hopefully that will give me 10-12 holes .

I like lotsa holes, but hate fumes in the quickfish, so I pop my holes with the gas powered outside while buddy sets up the tent and drills holes with the makita, keeps all the sweet two-stroke perfume outside the shelter.

I have an 18 volt mikita lithium/ion drill.  It did not like drilling with my 8" but worked fine with a 6".

A propane auger, although expensive, eliminates that "sweet two-stroke perfume" and the smell of gas in your vehicle, plus the hassle of mixing gas/oil, and can be used in the shack. Weight?? That's what you have a buddy for!!! ;D   :icefish:
